Grand Seiko Fair

Fair period:
March 3rd to 31st

Fair purchase benefit

Customers who purchase a Grand Seiko product during the fair period will receive a Grand Seiko original maneki neko (lucky cat).
Lucky cat, a figurine of a seated cat with one paw raised, is a historically auspicious fixture that symbolizes all things inviting. Store owners typically install them in shopfront displays in the hope of encouraging business prosperity.
The thinking is that a cat with its right paw raised attracts wealth, while an upturned left paw ushers in people (or customers). In this unique Seto Yaki version, the lucky cat is adorned in the signature color, namely Grand Seiko blue. A charmingly colored feline - what better way to bring in abundant good fortune.

A classic Grand Seiko design with a dial inspired by the cherry blossoms of spring in Japan
This is a modern re-interpretation of the celebrated 62GS from 1967. The 62GS was characterized by its distinctive bezel-free construction, allowing a seamless integration of the crystal with the case. Like its predecessor, this modern re-interpretation has the characteristic sharp edges and perfect distortion-free surfaces that only Zaratsu polishing can create and a wide dial opening which was achieved thanks to a bezel-free construction.

To look closely at the dial is to be transported to Hana-Ikada, the much-loved scene at the moment soon after the spring equinox, Shunbun when cherry blossom petals scattered by the wind cover the surface of a river. The textured dial and its pale pink color capture the magic of this treasured moment in the Japanese calendar and not only express the beauty of Sakura but hint at the exquisite pleasure to be derived from a profound understanding of the ephemeral nature of time.

The watch is powered by Spring Drive caliber 9R65, which is hand assembled by the skilled craftsmen and women of the Shinshu Watch Studio.

A five-day Spring Drive watch inspired by Lake Suwa stirred by the breeze before dawn.
To the southeast of the Shinshu Watch Studio, where Spring Drive watches are made, one will find the gently lapping waters of Lake Suwa, a constant inspiration for Grand Seiko. Take, for example, the dial of the Spring Drive SLGA021, which evokes the surface of this very body of water. When one looks upon it, they can’t help but see gentle waves wafting over the wind-swept lake in the pre-dawn stillness. And like a gentle wind on an otherwise tranquil body of water, the dark blue color manifests differently depending on the angle at which light catches it. The watch is powered by the Caliber 9RA2 Spring Drive 5 days movement, assembled by the skilled artisans of the Shinshu Watch Studio and engineered to run approximately 120 hours (5 days) when fully wound. Like flowing water, the seconds hand moves with the quiet, natural pace of time itself thanks to the Spring Drive movement just below the dial’s surface.
